  • Common during adolescence
  • Females > males
  • Direct association w/ activity
  • OA
  • Patella alta
  • Insufficient lateral femoral condyle
  • Weak VMO
  • Excessive pronation
  • Excessive knee valgus
  • Tight LE muscles

Clinical presentation w/ PF syndrome

A
  • Gradual onset of pain
  • Follows increase in physical activity
  • Retropatellar pain
  • Pain worse w/ PF compression or prolonged static position
  • Tenderness over lateral patella
  • Crepitus w/ compression
  • Quad atrophy
