Indications for TSA
A
- Severe GH degenerative joint disease
- Pain and limited ROM d/t OA
- RA
- Avascular necrosis
- Fx
- RC arthropathy
- Failed conservative management

Clinical presentation for pts required for TSA
A
- Impaired ROM
- Lack independence w/ functional mobility and ADLs
- Severe pain (unremitted w/ failed conservative treatment)
- Usually 55-70 y/o from OA
- 40-50 from dislocation or avascular necrosis

Labs/imaging for TSA
A
- X-ray
- MRI/CT scan for muscles

Neer shoulder protocol
A
- Isometric exercise ~3 weeks post-op
- PROM/AAROM 6 weeks

ROM precautions initially post-op
A
- No IR
- No ER beyond 35-40 during first 2-3 weeks
