  • Common sites: heel, toe tip, tip and dorsal aspect of hammer toe, plantar surface of metatarsal heads, and bunions
  • Loss of protective sensation

  • Well-defined oval shape surrounded by rim of hypertrophic callus
  • Granular tissue present w/ little necrosis
  • Minimal exudate
  • Minimal pain
  • Surrounding intact skin is shiny, dry, and inelastic
  • Distal pulses diminished or absent
