Controlled and Emergency
When would an emergency evacuation at a platform be enacted?
The greatest risk is remaining on a train
Little or no time to arrange assistance or protection to evacuate train
What would constitute a greater risk to customers remaining on the train?
Fire
Terrorist threat
Violent person on board placing others at risk
What do we do when customers attempt to evacuate without metro staff initiation?
Warn of the dangers and instruct them to remain on the train
Treat as an emergency
Make a rec call
Protect lines and stop approaching trains
Who is in control of the scene when an evacuation happens in the MURL not at a platform?
Station master/Senior officer
Who does the senior officer/station master liaise with regarding a non platform murl evacuation?
Senior network controller
How long can fault finding happen in the MURL?
10 minutes
Where can passengers be evacuated too in the MURL?
Emergency exit or station platform
How long can train drivers fault find outside the MURL?
25 minutes
Where would you evacuate passengers if evacuating trackside?
Directly available rail reserve
If evacuating track side, what are some steps you can take to protect adjacent lines?
Track circuit jumper cables
Warn passengers of the dangers of crossing active lines
