Comeng Faults - Pnuematics Flashcards
If main res pipe fails or supplementary res ruptures on a T car, what is affected?
Doors
Airbags
Brakes
How many bogies constitute above 80% braking capacity?
2
How many bogies isolated constitute 50%/80%?
Up to 6 bogies
What happens if you have a substantial leak in the control res?
You will lose main res pressure
What happens when you trip the compressor synch circuit breaker?
The local compressor runs independently off the pressure settings for that compressor
What pressure settings is read for the compressor governor to close?
The highest of the low range pressure settings
What pressure settings is read for the compressor governor to open?
The highest of the high pressure settings
What pressure setting does the main res safety valve release excess air?
775kpa
How do we isolate a local compressor governor?
Trip the compressor gov circuit breaker in that cab
How to we locate a defective compressor governor?
When compressors continue to run, go into each cab and trip the compressor gov circuit breaker until they all stop operating
What stops working if the compressor governor circuit breaker is tripped?
The train lined spring park brake buttons
With a leading motor main res pipe rupture, what do we lose?
Doors Uncouple Whistle/wiper Control res Spring park brake Air suspension Brake controller Pantograph
What can happen if the automatic drain valve is broken and not plugged?
You will lose air in the brake cylinders
What is the procedure for a ruptured main res tank?
Locate rupture Close main res Delivery cocks Turn off compressor contractor Release spring park brakes Isolate compressor gov circuit breaker
What is the speed restrictions for a defective air bag?
Half the track speed and to a maximum of 30km/h
