Absence of an aspect at a place where a signal is normally shown
Signal imperfectly displayed (flickering, disc not turning correctly)
White light in place of colour
2 signal aspects instead of one (dwarf)
Conflicting co acting
Signal reverting to stop before train passes the signal
How should irregular signals be treated?
Safest aspect at STOP
What can be issued when an irregular signal is detected
CAN notice
Is a CAN notice an authority to pass a signal?
No
What is the procedure of a home signal is stuck at proceed?
Hand signaller must obscure the light
Lay two ATWs ten meters apart at a sufficient distance away from the signal
Exhibit red hand signal until correct authority obtained by the driver to succeed
Driver must make a pa announcement
Obtain correct authority to pass
What’s the procedure with a home reverting to stop?
Attempt to stop
Make a pa announcement
Communicate with signaller or tc
Obtain the necessary authority to pass
What if there is no comms after seeing a home signal reverting to stop?
Wait to be contacted by tc
Must not pass unless correct authority is given
What do you do with an automatic signal stuck at proceed?
Hand signaller must obscure the light

No operative light on a dwarf or disc, how do you proceed?
Verbal authority due to defective signal
If a signaller cannot be contacted due to issues with communication regarding an irregular aspect, who is the next point of cal?
