Special Speeds Flashcards
What is a W.O.N?
Weekly operation notice
Where are weekly temporary or permanent speed restrictions listed?
Weekly operation notice (WON) Circulars WTT amendments Book of rules WTT addenda
When is 25km speed restriction generally used?
Entering a terminal platform Until entire train is on the viaduct Until entire train has departed fss Maximum speed for extreme caution Speed limit on platform 8A Speed proving trips
When is a 40km speed restriction used?
Diverging moves from the main line
Metro freight bypass
When powering from a motor other then the lead but braking from then lead
Through viaduct
When is a 15km speed restriction used?
- Passing over facing points when held by hand
- Passing over facing points that are usually passed in the trailing position
- Trains involved in shunting movements
- Rescuing trains from the advance on abs and from either side for single line working
- All train movements between sidings
- Any wrong line movements of trains
- powering and braking from anywhere then the lead motor
- Setting back in the MURL
Describe a speed board
Square yellow reflective board with black numerals which indicates the maximum speed permissible in km/h
What does the G, F, and P mean on speed boards?
G = Goods P = Passengers F = Fast goods/Freight
What side of the track are curve boards located?
Left side
Describe a WOLO 80 restriction
- Line specific
- 38-41 degrees and when the rail temperature reaches 55 degrees and rising
- 80km/h maximum speed
Describe a WOLO 70 restriction
- Whole network
- temperatures of 42 degrees and above
- 70km/h allowable trackspeed on entire network
In what order do permanent way boards display themselves?
W
C
NS
N
What are co active signals?
They are a replication of a signal that is obstructed from view
What do we do in the event a co active signal does not match the fixed signal?
We treat it as a danger signal and contact train control
For a Comeng, what is the speed restriction for isolated air bags?
Half track speed to a maximum of 30km/h
With 2 or less bogies isolated on a 6 car train, what is the speed restrictions?
No speed restriction up to 60km/h then 10km/h below track speed for any speed above 60km/h
