If fault finding fails in the MURL, what is the drivers duties?
Contact area controller
Declare the train disabled
On declaring the train disabled
What must the driver do?
Complete the DRA stating location and length of train
Dictate DRA to area control
Not move the train until DRA has been correctly cancelled
How does the driver protect the train from the rear or advance?
Carry out full cab unattended
Take the DRA, Portable radio, necessary red hand signals
Ensure red lights are illuminated on the train
Proceed to first home signal at stop protecting disabled train
Display red hand signal
Inform area controller the train is now protected
When rescuing from the rear and the driver is already in the MURL, how is the driver instructed to travel inside the MURL to the disabled driver?
As per the aspects of fixed signals
When returning the disabled train to the rear, what authority is needed to pass?
Train authority dictated
Train authority will state the number of each home signal between combined trains and the home signal which to return too
When returning to the rear what must the relief driver of the disabled train do before leaving via train authority?
Raise the trip and run on secondary safety system
How fast can a combined train travel?
15km/h
If a home signal to pass is not listed on the TA, what must the driver do?
Contact area controller
Advise of the circumstance
If instructed the area controller will allow you to amend the ta with missing signal number
Pass the signal at stop if authorised and travel no faster then 15km/h
How do you pass the home signal at stop protecting the disabled train?
Contact Area Control and advise them you are with the driver of the disabled train
Receive verbal instructions to pass
Do you need a train authority if pushing the train in its original direction?
No

Train authority
How many cars are permitted to operate in the MURL?
8 Cars
How many motor cars operating puts on a power restriction?
Five cars
What are the power restrictions for anything more then 5 motor cars?
No power beyond series on comeng or a low power notch on Siemens and Xtrapolis
