Comeng Cab & Saloon equipment Flashcards
When would the low pressure flag be displayed?
Pressure in the main reservoir is below a safe level (500KPA)
Ep brake is inoperative due to a failure or isolation of the power supply to the lock out magnet valve
The BVIC is closed
How would you isolate the LP flag?
EP MR isolate cock behind the panel door in the van area near the park brake
Name the isolating cocks in the van area behind the panel?
Panto EP isolate MA EP isolate Trip gear isolate BP sensor isolate Panto and MA isolate EP MR isolate
What is the trip latching lever used for?
To raise and lower the trip
Where does the air come from to operate the trip latching lever?
The control reservoir
What is the compressor contractor?
Electrical switch that is used to turn on or off the air compressor on the motor car that the switch is located in
When would you use traction equipment reset?
Reset tripped overloads in the traction system
When traction motors fail to power
Rheostatic brake fails to set up
Name the four gauges in the centre consol from left to right
Brake cylinder gauge
Duplex gauge
Speedometer
Ammeter
What bogie does the brake cylinder gauge read from?
Bogie 1
What does the red needle indicate on the duplex gauge?
Air pressure on your main reservoir
What does the white needle represent on the duplex gauge?
Brake pipe air pressure
How long must the doors open and closed buttons be held?
2 seconds
How long do you need to hold the spring park brake button for?
5 seconds
How long should the saloon light on and off switch be held for?
2 seconds
How often does the mad button make an audible beep?
10 second intervals
What does LSM stand for?
Low supply module isolating switch
When would you place the LSM isolating switch to stop?
Pantograph will not raise or remains raised
Motor alternator will not start
Pantographs lower for no apparent reason
EP circuit breaker trips continually
Name the isolating cocks in the cab area near the foot pilot valve?
Wiper washer isolate cock
Uncouple isolate cock
Whistle isolation cock
Vicers whistle isolation cock
What does the BVIC control the flow of?
Main reservoir air to the automatic air brake valves and into the brake pipe through the brake controller
EP and rheostatic brake selector switches
Electrical current to LP flag and lockout magnet valve
Electrical current for blue door closed lights
What does the EP circuit breaker protect?
The EP brake circuit and disabling the ep brake and rheo from the entire train
What happens if the EP brake circuit breaker trips?
Rheostatic and EP brake wonโt work, the lockout magnet valve will become de energised and cause the automatic air brake to become active and your primary source of brake
How many DC circuit breakers need to be tripped for the train to fail?
All of them, only one that has been set is necessary for the train to be operational
What circuit breakers are train lined?
DC supply circuit breaker
Control circuit breaker
Compressor sync circuit breaker
Auxiliary control circuit breaker
What does an air conditioner fault light flashing mean?
Two air conditioners have failed in the same carriage
