18
Q

What is the function of the vicers activation relay?

A

It applies the emergency brake if the vicers times out

19
Q

How do you reset the vicers?

A

Allow the train to come to a stand

Leave it in coast for 10 seconds
Press vicers acknowledgement button

20
Q

What happens if you can’t reset the trip?

A

Isolate the trip key switch

21
Q

When should we isolate the vicers key switch?

A

The fault indicator remains illuminated

Fault that cannot be reset and train is held

22
Q

What is run off 400vdc?

A

Battery charger
Air compressor
Traction control module
HVAC

GPO outlets

23
Q

When by passing the trip or safety loop via key switch, what button must be pressed at regular intervals when flashing?

A

Mad button

24
Q

How do you do a vicers test?

A
Reverser in forward
Trip down
Press vicers button
Look for a reduction in brake pipe
Vicers acknowledgement flashes and fault lights come on and off
25
Q

When safety loop is bypassed, what equipment is not working?

A
Deadman’s devices
Over speed relay
Main res pressure relay
BCU major event relay
Coupler fault relay
Holding brake relay
26
Q

How does the electricity get supplied to the traction motors?

A

Overheads provide 1500vdc to the traction container converting 1500vdc into 3 phase variable AC

27
Q

How does electric get supplied and converted to the SIVS?

A
1500vdc is supplied directly to the SIVS which is converted into 400vac
This then supplied power to the battery charger, air compressor, traction control module and HVACS
28
Q

Name what’s in the high voltage container?

A

2 high speed circuit breakers and a grounding switch

29
Q

Name the roof mounted equipment on a M car

A

Panto
Antenna
Surge arrestor
HVAC

30
Q

What voltages do the SIVS produce?

A

110v DC by way of battery charger
400v AC
240v AC
