What is a DAO
Driver Allocation Officer, allocated drivers to trains, reallocate drivers in disruptions, inform drivers of altered runs of platform changes.

No, unless AO’s are required at a disruption. Or Track Maintenance conducting duties.
What do you need to make sure of before leaving a junction
The driver must be aware of what the required route will be and make sure you are about to take the correct route.

Station Staff, at flinders if the train is traveling the same way, the driver is being relieved at the opposite end or the driver when they are changing ends or stabling at a platform.

a pilot will either take over the train and drive the route or guide the driver over the new track.
