What is meant by quantitative data?
Data that can be shown numerically.
What is meant by qualitative data?
Data that is descriptive and is about feelings and emotions.
What is meant by objective data?
Fact-based information which is measurable and usable.
What is meant by subjective data?
Data based on personal opinion which is less measurable and usable.
What are the 4 functions of sports analytics?
Monitor fitness, Assess development, Reduce injuries, Identify talent.
What is meant by validity?
An indication as to whether the data collected actually measures what it claims.
How can someone ensure that the data is valid?
Ask themself ‘Does the data collected measure exactly what it sets out to do?’
What is meant by reliability?
The degree to which the data collection is consistent and stable.
How does the examiner affect the reliability of data?
When the equipment is poorly maintained or used incorrectly.
What is indirect calorimetry?
The measurement of heat, energy and oxygen expenditure.
What are 5 downsides of indirect calorimetry?
Air leaks, recording errors, Over/underfeeding, only a single snapshot, only measure consumption and not needs.
