What is the role of the central executive?
It is the central control of memory and controls what enters and leaves the working memory.
What is the role of the phonological loop?
Deals with auditory info.
What is the role of the visuospatial sketchpad?
Deals with visual and spatial info and help process how the movement feels.
What is the role of the episodic buffer?
It co-ordinates the phonological loop and the visuospatial sketchpad to make sequences and send them to the long-term memory.
Define memory trace.
Initial idea of the skill is sent to the long term memory where it triggers a motor programme.
What is Schema theory (Schmidt)
The core principles of a skill are taken from the existing motor programmes. They are then adapted using the information from the environment and feedback from the senses.
