A belief in the ability to master a task.
What is trait confidence?
A consistent level of confidence shown in most situations and sport.
What is meant by state confidence?
A temporary amount of confidence gained in certain situations which varies from different performers.
What is meant by the competitive orientation?
How much the performer is drawn to challenging situations.
What is the objective sporting situation?
The performance takes into account the situation in which the task is being undertaken.
What is self-efficacy?
A belief in the ability to master a specific sporting situation.

What is verbal persuasion?
Encouragement from others.
What is meant by emotional arousal?
A perception of the effects of anxiety on performance.
What is meant by performance accomplishments?
What you have already done.
What is meant by vicarious experience?
Seeing others do the task.
