The start of Henry’s rule
A
Catholic church at every aspect of life and community.
Strongly C had been for centuries.
Local churches and monasteries- provided education, health care and helped the poor (crops, food,).
7 sacraments gave forgiveness and taught society how to live and mass (some went everyday). People sinned at the time so important.

After the reformation
A
It was not at the heart of the community (at least in law and on the outside).
Protestantism became the main religion of England by law.
1536-40 Monasteries no longer a thing so all the help disappeared.
Many people at heart were still Catholic.
