Q

Resignation of Bishops and Clergy.

A

The oath of loyalty: Did not accept:
All but 1 of Mary’s Bishops (Bishop of Llandaff) took out of position.
300/8000 lower clergy refused.
CONSEQUENCE:
Could appoint P sympathizers like Matthew Parker (Anne’s Chaplin) as Archbishop of Canterbury- make changes on religion easier.
Removed strict/hardcore/extreme Catholic clergyman which made it easier for the new changes to settle in and be accepted.
