How might a patient with oesophageal varices be managed?
A
- Acute management of bleeding varices
- Fluid resuscitation, vasopressors (terlipressin/octreotide), prophylactic antibiotics (norfloxacin), endoscopic ligation/sclerotheray
- Balloon tamponade/TIPS (hepato-portal shunt creation)
- Management of non-bleeding varices
- Beta-blockers (propranolol), monitoring, ligation
