MRI basics Flashcards

1
Q

hoe werkt een MRI bij MS

A

Q

what is step 2

A

you apply radio waves -> protons absorb energy -> you change the orientation of the spins

Q

what is step 3

A

you stop with the radio waves. The protons then emit energy in the form of radiowaves.

Q

MRI vs fMRI

A

MRI you look at the anatomy, with fMRI you look at the function and brain activity through blood flow/hemodynamic response.

MRI: high resolution, beautiful image, slow
fMRI: low resolution, ugly image, fast

9
Q

parametric MRI

A

more detailed as it combines these 4 images:

  • fMRI
  • brain perfusion (blood volume)
  • diffusion (non-directional bij tumor of stroke)
  • spectroscopy (chemical substances)

but….
Complex contrast mechanism
Low spatial resolution
Limited signal (noisy)

16
Q

waar staat flair voor

A

fluid attenuated inversion recovery

17
Q

hoe ziet flair er uit?

A

18
Q

hoe ziet double inversion recovery er uit?

A
