Why is a light microscope named as such?
A
Because it uses a form of light reflection/ light source under the stage to get a clearer image

Describe the method of preparing a slide
A
- Gather equipment: slide, cover slip, methylene blue, specimen piece, gloves, tweezers
- Put on gloves and clean slide
- Use tweezers to remove a small sample of specimen piece and place onto centre of slide
- place a DROP of methylene blue on top of specimen and secure with coverslip over slide
- now slide can be secured on to stage

Method for preparing a microscope examination
A
- Collect light microscope
- Place slide onto stage and secure with clips
- Set objective lens to lowest setting
- Use adjustment knobs to raise and drop platform to alter focus
- Adjust objective lens if object is still not focused
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 whilst looking through eye piece to monitor focus
