Q

what is the method for extracting DNA?

A
  1. dissolve salt in beaker filled with water - add washing up liquid and stir till salt is dissolved
  2. Mash peas - put peas into an empty beaker and add solution from 1 - stir slowly
  3. place beaker in water bath for 15 minutes
  4. Filter mixture and collect filtrate in beaker
  5. pour into boiling tube and add protease enzyme solution
  6. slowly pour in cold ethanol onto the side of the tube. equal amounts ethanol to filtrate
  7. Sit for few mins while precipitate forms between ethanol and filtrate
  8. DNA can be collected with stir rod
