no longer than 4 weeks due to risk of dependance. withdrawl if stopped - headache, muscle pain, anxiety.

- elderly; more sensitive
so reduce dose
DO not prescribe in - OSA - Resp muscle weakness - resp depressionn as worsens resp failure

- enhance alcohol sedative effect.
- enhace hypotension if with antiHTN
- metabolised by CYP450 so cyp450 - i can increase sedaction and cyp inducers can impair
