bradycardia Flashcards
1
Q
name the antimuscarinics used in the rx of CVD and GI
A
- atropine
- hyoscine butylbromide
- glycopyrronium
2
Q
CVD and GI antimch indications
A
- atropine = bradycardia
- antimch esp hyosciene BUTYLBROMIDE = IBS for antispasmodic
- antimch - e.g. hyosciene = resp secretions in palliative care
3
Q
MOA of Antimch
A
- competitive inhibitors of ach. - block = increase sympathetic effects - increase HR, reduce peristalsis and reduce secretions
- in eye = relaxation of pupillary contrictor = dialtation and prevents accomodation
4
Q
SE antimch
A
- tachycardia
- dry mouth
- constipation
- reduce detrusor activity = urianry retention in BPH
- blurred vision for near objects
- drowsy and confused e.g. atropine esp in old people
5
Q
Relative CI to antimch
A
- angle closure glaucoma risk pt as can increase itnraocular pressure
- arrhythmias unless needed for bradycardia
6
Q
interactions of antimch
A
- TCA, and other antimch
7
Q
what dose of atropine is given in bradycardia
A
500mcg IV up to 3mg
