- enters cells in uncharged form - accepts a proton, becomes positively charged.
- from inside the cell, enters and blocks vgna. = stops action potentials in nerves and msucle.
- in heart reduces duration of AP

- RESTLESS
- tremor

- Overdose = hypotension and arrhythmias
