circulatory compromise Flashcards
1
Q
what does hartmanns solution contain
A
- sodium lactate
- Na 131
- cl 111
- k - 5
- ca - 2
- lactate - 29
2
Q
hartmanns indications
A
- provide na and h20 for those who cannot take orally
- to expand cirulating volume in states of impaired tissue eprfusion e.g. shock - can be as fluid challenge
3
Q
MOA hartmanns
A
- infused lactate metabolised = bicarb
- as compound it contaons similar conc to ECF and is retained there.
- 20% remains in vessels to expand circulating volume
4
Q
why is hartmanns sometimes better than nacl
A
- lower chloride so less likely to make hyperchloraemic acidosis
5
Q
SE hartmanns
A
- oedema as too much sodium can enter insterstitium
- overfilled LV - pulmonary oedema
6
Q
where do u prescribe hartmanns on a drug chart
A
- infusions - volume and rate
common - 500ml at 100ml/hr and glucose 5% 2l at 100ml/hr - together this works as maintenance for a day/
7
Q
dose of hartmanns to expand circulating volume
A
- sodium lactate 500ml/5mins
8
Q
nacl indications
A
- haemodynamic instability
- expand circulting volume in shock
