That African Americans should form a seperate society

Universal Negro IMprovement Association , Garvey opened places in the ghetto
What did Garvey do to lure followers?
Program to promote African American businesses

the son of a one time slave. Became a major dramatic actor. He struggled with racism.

He was part of the Creole Jazz Group. He played the trumpet. He was famous for his astoundign sense of rhythm and ablility to improvise.
