Energetics and Nutrition: Energetic imbalance - hot and cold Flashcards

1
Q

Energetic Imbalance:

A

Imbalance of the qualities leads to characteristic patterns of physical disease and mental disharmony
* This happens when our environment, diet and lifestyle choices lean excessively towards some qualities at the expense of others, causing aspects of physiology and character to become ‘excessive’ or ‘aggravated’ and others ‘deficient’ or ‘weak’.
Imbalance = dis-ease

Q

Plant growth

A

How and where plants grow affects their energetic temperature
* Plants that grow slowly (E.g. roots) are warmer than those that grow quickly (e.g. salad leaves). It takes several years for Korean ginseng root to mature, thus its effect is very warming
* Plants that grow in cold environments also tend to be warmer. Siberian ginseng comes from a very cold environment and its effect is, therefore very warming
* Chemically fertilized plants grow much faster and are therefore cooler than naturally grown plants
