*infects MACROPHAGES – migrate to the SPLEEN, LIVER and BONE MARROW – parasite rapidly multiplies – HEPATOSPLENOMEGALY

Sodium Stibogluconate
Amphotericin B

Miltefosine - VISCERAL
Used to identify exposure to the parasite
