12.6 Plasma membrane of neurons Flashcards
What are the three types channels?
1) Leaky channels- always open Na+ and K+ channels
2) Chemically gated channels- open with neurotransmitter- K+ and Cl-
3) Voltage-gated channels- open in response to electrical charge (potential) across a plasma membrane. Na+, K+, Ca+
What are the three states of voltage gated Na+ channels?
1) Resting state- inactivation gate open, activation gate closed
2) Activation stated- inactivation and activation gate open- activation opens in response to potential
3) Inactivation state- inactivation gate temporarily closed, but activation gate open.
Modality channels
Componentes of sensory neurons that open or close in response to stimulus.
What channels are located throughout the neuron?
Na+/K+ pump, and leaky Na+ and K+ channels
What channels are located in dendrites and cell body?
Chemically gated cation, K+ and Cl- channels.
What channels are located in the axon hillock and the axon?
Voltage gated Na+ and K+ channels.
What type of channels are located near the synaptic bulb?
Voltage gated Ca+ channels and Ca+ pump
