What is our gland that produces majority of saliva?
Submandibular salivary glands and go through submandibular duct to floor of cavity
What is parotid gland?
Largest salivary glands and go through parotid duct to oral cavity
What is sublingual salivary gland?
Inferior to tongue and extends tiny ducts opening into inferior surface of cavity
What are teeth?
Dentition exposed crown and constricted neck with one or more roots
What is periodontal ligament?
Anchor your tooth into place
What are gingivae?
Gums, dense irregular CT, nonkeratinized stratified squamous epithelium
What is the pharynx?
Passageway for air and food, skeletal muscles, lined with nonkeratinized stratified squamous epithelium
What is the esphogaus?
Normally collapsed, tubular passageway
What is the cardia?
Superior entryway into stomach lumen from esophagus
What are the 4 regions of stomach?
Cardia, fundus, body, pylorus
What is chyme?
The food mixed specifically with gastric juices and saliva
What is rugae?
Gastric folds, found on internal stomach lining when stomach empty
What is small intestine function?
Absorbs most nutrients and large percentage of water, electrolytes, and vitamins
What is liver?
Accessory digestive organ and largest internal organ
What is liver function?
Production of bile (decreases fats)
