Unit 4.5 - Depth Perception Flashcards
What is the trichromatic theory?
All colours are a combination of blue, red, or green. These are the colours of cones.
What are the types of colourblindness?
Deurteranopia - green blindness
Tritanopia - blue blindness
Protanopia - red blindness
What is the opponent-processing theory? What are the three pairs?
When one colour stops firing - you will see the opposite of the pair. The three pairs are:
- black and white
- yellow and blue
- red and green
What does complex perception require?
Different neurons required for processing movement, lines, patterns, contrast, symmetry, faces.
What is visual agonsia?
Unable to picture visual information.
What is prosopagnosia?
Hard time remembering facial features. Can rather use hats and hair to identify people.
What is included in depth perception?
There is binocular cues which require two eyes, and monocular cues which requires one eye.
What is retinal disparity? Binocular cue
One eyed cover, then index finger shown, then other eye closed it shows different visual image, Eyes see something different each time.
What does convergence mean? Binocular cue
Muscle feedback of eyes as object is closer or farther. . Think of eyes closing in together at nose at closer objects.
What are the modular cues include?
Size - smaller = further, larger = closer
Height - taller = farther, shorter = closer
Interposition - overlapping = closer, one covered = farther
Texture - Clear = closer, less clear = farther
Shadow - shadow size = depth of something
Linear perspective = convergence of line = farther
Motion paradox = things that move slower = farther
