What is internal validity?
Degree to which the cause and effect between 2 variables has been ambiguously established.
What is external validity?
Degree to which findings generalizes to a larger setting.
What is ecological validity?
Degree to which an effect as been obtained under conditions that are typical for what happens in everyday life.
What is the experience-sampling method?
Participants report their thoughts and feelings in different points in a day.
What is an ecological momentary assessment?
Methods that repeatedly sample participants real-world experiences and behaviours, etc.
What is day reconstruction method?
Participants describe their experiences and behaviour of a given day by reconstructing it the following day.
What is an EAR?
It is an electronically activated recorder. Participants wear it, and it records ambient sounds around them.
What is white coat hypertension?
It is elevated blood pressure when in a doctors office or hospital.
What is ambulatory assessment?
Methods that assess behaviour, physiology, and experiences and environments of humans in natural settings.
What is linguistic inquiry?
Quantitative text analysis that extracts physiological info from text.
What is full-cycle psych?
Researchers start with an observational field of study, study its effect in the real world, and follow up with lab experiment to verify and isolate.
