Q

What is the prefrontal cortex? What happens if there is little oxygen to it?

A

It takes the longest to mature, it is responsible for personality, reasoning/logic, and decision making. Little oxygen to it makes someone have impaired reasoning skills.

Q

What happened to Phineas Gage? What are diseases that impact the pre-frontal?

A

He had a pole go through his pre-frontal cortex, which resulted in him going from being calm to being hostile and aggressive. Alziehmer’s and dementia attacks it.

Q

What does the primary motor cortex do? What if there is little O2?

A

It is responsible for movement coordination and control.. The face’s coordination takes up the most space. Little O2 means that there is little coordination and slurred speech as mouth cannot move properly.

Q

What does Broca’s area do? What happens if there is little O2?

Q

What is the primary somatosensory cortex? What happens if there is little o2?

A

It is responsible for skin sensitivity and sensation. Lips and face are the most sensitive. Little o2 results in lack of sensitivity and numbness.

Q

What does the primary auditory cortex do? What would a lack of O2 cause?

Q

What does Wernick’s area do? What does a lack of O2 cause?

A

It is responsible for language comprehension, when speaking and listening to others. A lack of O2 causes one to be unable to comprehend their own words and others.

Q

What does the primary visual cortex do? What happens if there is a lack of o2?

A

It is responsible for processing visual info. If impacted, it can cause one to see stars. It helps process patterns and faces. Lack of o2 causes one to have a blurry vision.
