Q

overall what does milgrams variables suggest

Q

EVALUATE MILGRAM

A

+ controlled, lab study, control extraneous variables, we can be more certain that the SV effect behaviour and influence obedience, useful ^ validity
- lacks ecological validity - not representative - cant generalise to other real life settings because we dont know if in real life these variables would have an impact on obedience and therefore we dont know have valid knowledge on how people obey in real world

17
Q

evaluate bickman

A

+ ecological validity - field , new york - PP didnt know so we have seen how the variables work in real life and we can be more sure that people obey because of uniform , increases usefulness and validity
- extraneous variables - may have obeyed because they were in a rush etc so we this question the validity because how do we know if uniform was the reason they obeyed
- alternative explanation - dispositional factors - adorno and authoritarian personality are more likeley to obey - this suggests situational varaibles do not provide a full explanation for obedience and therefore less useful

18
Q

what is a situational variable

A

an aspect of the environment/situation that may affect a PP behaviour
