What are the canine core vaccines?
World canine core vaccines

When would you administer DHP vaccination (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus)?
Advised first dose from 6 weeks of age + second dose 2-4 weeks later from the 10 weeks of age
In dogs over 10 weeks of age - single dose = sufficient
When would you administer L4 vaccine (letospirosis)?
First vaccine between 6 - 9 weeks of age
Second vaccine 4 weeks later between 10-13 weeks of age
What are high risk puppies and when would you start their vaccine?
High risk = unvaccinated dam - start vaccines a 6 weeks of age
When would you start vaccine of normal risk puppies?
8-10weeks of age
How often do you need to give DHP + L4 vaccines?
DHP every 3 years after year 1 booster
*L4 every year
What are the non-core vaccine of dogs?
*Parainfluenza
*Kennel cough
*Herpes
*Rabies - pet travel scheme
What are the feline core vaccinations?
World feline core vaccinations
*Calicivirus
*Herpesvirus
*Panleucopenia - feline parvo

When should tricat vaccination be administered? (Calici, herpes + panleukopenia)
*First dose from 8-9weeks of age
*2nd dose 3-4 weeks later from age of 12 weeks
When can FeLV vaccine be given?
*Same time as tricat -
*1st dose From 8 weeks of age
*2nd dose 3-4 weeks later
What cats only need Tricat?
Low risk cats - truly indoors
Who are high risk cats?
Cats that go outdoors
Who are medium risk cats?
Cats who live with cats that go outdoors
or
Indoor cats who go to catteries
How often do you need to give the cat vaccines?
*Tricat + FeLV every 3 year after year 1 booster
*Ducat (calici + herpes) annually
