Present continuous as temporary situation or around the present moment

State verbs rarely used in present continuous
Believe, consist of, doubt, own.
Some verbs can mean State or Action. If state, use Simple, if action, use Simple or Continuous, depending on the time signal.
Appear, cost, expect, feel, fit, have, imagine, measure, think, weigh.
He weighs (consider) all the options.
I weigh ten and a half stone.
The doctor is weighing the baby now.
Mental verbs can use Continuous the enphasise recently think about or not sure about.
Find, realise, think, regret, understand.
I’m regretting my decision to give her the job. (recently think about).
Consider = THINK CAREFULLY ABOUT , use Continuous.
He is considering TAKING early retirement.
Mental verbs or preferences use Simple.
Agree, believe, conclude, know, prefer.
I conclude this right now.
I prefer go now.
Performative verbs use SIMPLE.
Suggest, acknowledge, admit, advise, apologise, beg, confess, congratulate, declare, deny, forbid, guarantee, name, order, permit, predict, promise, refuse, remind, request, thank, warn.
Performative verbs in negative form have a similar meaning in SIMPLE or CONTINUOUS in NEGATIVE FORM.
Apologise, deny, guarantee, promise, suggest.
I don’t deny or I’m not denying the facts.
Performative verbs use with MODALS, to polite.
I would advise you to arrive two hours before the flight leaves.
