Future Continuous and Future Perfect (Continous) Flashcards
Use future continuous for predictions to start before a time in the future or to continuous after this time in the future.
Anna will be helping us to organize the party.
Use Future Continuous for activity that is normal part of the events or one that is repeated event.
Dr. Lin will be giving the same talk next week.
Will you be driving to work, as usual?
Use FUTURE CONTINUOUS or PRESENT CONTINUOUS for arrangements in the future.
We will be leaving at seven o’clock in the evening. (or are leaving). Timetable.
When the race starts later this afternoon, the drivers will be hoping for dryer weather than last year. (not are hoping, not details of a timetable).
Use Future Continuous when we don’t want to indicate invitation.
Will you be staying with us again this evening? (asking about their plans).
Will you stay with us again tonight? (invitation).
Use Future Perfect to say that a situation will be ended at a point in the future.
By the time you get home I will have cleaned the house from top to bottom.
I’m sure this behaviour will soon have been forgotten. (passive).
Use Future Perfect Continuous to emphasise the duration of an activity in progress at the future.
Next year I will have been working in the company for 30 years. (always mention the time, “next year”).
Future Continuous, Future Perfect or Future Perfect Continuous to say what we believe is happening around now.
We could ask to borrow Joe’s car. He won’t be using it.
Most people will have forgotten the fire by now.
Tennis fans will have been queuing all day to buy tickets.
Use Future Perfect Continuous for what we think happening at a point in the past.
She will have been asking herself whether speed cameras are a good idea after she was fined a $100 bill last week.
