Muscular System - Nerve Innervation Flashcards
What are motor neurons?
Motor neurons (MNs) are neuronal cells located in the central nervous system (CNS) controlling a variety of downstream targets.
What is a synapse?
Connects the nerve to the muscle and stimulates muscle contaction
What type of muscle tissues relies on the autonomic nervous system (ANS)?
Cardiac and Smooth muscle tissue
What type of muscle tissues relies on the central nervous system (CNS)?
Skeletal muscle tissue
ANS is part of what nervous system?
The peripheral nervous system
What are the two primary functions of the PNS?
Sensory and motor function
What does the Sympathetic nervous system do?
The SNS increases cardiac output (the amount of blood pumped out of the heart in one minute)
What does the parasympathetic nervous system do?
The PNS decreases cardiac output.
