VO2 max is the maximum rate of oxygen consumption attainable during physical exertion

VO2 max is represented when a subject’s oxygen consumption plateaus, even if the subject can continue increasing effort.

VO2 Max test is great for what?
Determining one’s VO2 max is a great way to benchmark fitness and use for reassessment purposes, but regarding performance in the real world, it is only one potential factor.
Why is VO2 max often viewed as a poor performance indicator?
Because it doesn’t take exercise economy into account.
What is exercise economy?
Exercise economy relates to how efficient an athlete is.
What is running economy?
Running economy relates to how efficient an athlete is at running.
What is the Bruce Protocol Test?
The Bruce protocol is a treadmill test used to assess heart health. It can also be used to estimate an athlete’s VO2 max.
