What are outcome goals?
An outcome goal is a specific result that in and of itself is largely out of an athlete’s control. i.e come is first place in a race
What are performance goals?
Performance goals lie just underneath Outcome goals and focus on a set of standards to engage that gives the athlete more control over effort and intensity while reducing an emphasis on an exact outcome.
What are process goals?
Process goals are the most controllable set of goals in the life of an athlete and influence the daily and weekly training plan as they focus on actionable behaviors on a regular, consistent and trackable basis.
In regards to goal setting what does the acronym SMART stand for?
Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-based.
In regards to setting SMART goals, what does S stand for and what does it mean?
Specific - Goals need to be clear and specific.
In regards to setting SMART goals, what does M stand for and what does it mean?
Measurable - How will you measure success?

Attainable - Is the goal attainable, and is it important or relevant to me?

Open goals do not have a specific target, focus, or outcome. Rather, they are tied to an ongoing process.
What are closed goals?
Closed goals are specific, rigid, and tied to the outcome.
