Math - Statistics Flashcards
How would you calaculate mean, median, and mode?
Mean = average
Median = number in middle; organize data numerically and find number in the middle; if two numbres in middle, find average of those two numbers
Mode: number seen most often
How would you calaculate range?
take the largest number in the data set and subtract the smallest value
A data point that does NOT fit the pattern is a(n) ______
outlier
Know how a unimodal, bimodal, multimodal, and uniform graph look like
Unimodal : one peak/bell shaped; normal distribution
Bimodial: two peaks
Multimodal = many peaks
Uniform = no obvious peaks
Know how a positive and negative skewed distribution appears as. Know where mode/mean/median can be found.
Positive skewed (Right skewed): mode at peak, median slightly right, then mean farther right
Negative skewed (Left skewed): mode at peak, media slightly left, then mean farther left
