Q

Differentiate between positive and negative feedback

A

Negative feedback:

  • common
  • returns variable to the set point

Positive feedback

  • rare
  • escalates the response
  • moves the variable away from the set point

Q

Give an example of when positive and negative feedback is used

A

Positive:

  • birth
  • lactation
  • blood clotting
  • sodium channels in action potentials

Negative
- blood pressure
