What is hypospadias?
A condition occurring in males where the urethreal meatus is on the ventral/underside of the penis
What is epispadias?
A condition occurring in males where the urethral meatus is on the dorsal/topside of the penis
What condition is associated with hypospadias?
Chordee - where the head of the penis bends downwards
What is the management of hypospadias?
Surgery performed after 3-4 months
- To correct the position of the meatus and straighten the penis
What are the complications of hypospadias?
Sexual dysfunction
Cosmetic and psychological concerns
Difficulty directing urination
What other congenital abnormality are children with hypospadias at increased risk of?
Cryptorchidism (undescended testes)
