Presentation
A
- Increasing myopia
- Blurred vision - gradual vision los
- Dazzling in sunshine/bright lights
- Monocular diplopia

Causes
A
Increasing AGe: 75% of >65s DM Steroids Congenital -Idiopathic - Infection: rubella - Metabolic: wilson's, galactosaemia - Myotonic dystriphy

Investigations
A
Visual acuity
dilated fundoscopy
tonometry
Blood glucose to exclude DM

Management conservative
A
Glassess
Mydriatic drops and sunglassess may give some relief

Mx surgical
A
- Consider if symptoms affect lifestyle or driving (

Complications
A
1% risk - Anterior uveitis/iritis VH Retinal detachment Secondary glaucoma Endothalmitis (leading to blindness in 0.1%)

Post-op capsule changes
A
Thickening is common - easily Rx with laser capsulotomy

Post-op eye irritation
A
Is common and requires drops
