Features of local anesthesia in children and inflammatory diseases in MFA Flashcards
1
Q
Anatomical considerations in children
A
- Risk of penetrating vessels in tuberosity area w/ deep infiltration→ Pterygoid plexus or posterior superior alveolar artery
- Short ramus and narrower→ IAN penetration reduced
-Bone less calcified- better diffusion of anaesthetic
2
Q
Infiltration anaesthesia in children
A
Maxilla→ Normal technique w/ less anaesthetic→ solution penetrates well
-Mandible→ Up to age 5→ Infiltrations sufficient on all teeth
3
Q
Mandibular block variation
A
- Same technique but variation in position of foramen
- Below plane of occlusion in child under 4
- On occlusal plane in 4-10 year olds
