What is a ‘pick and mix’ society?
A society where individuals see options from which they can pick and choose the ones that are the best fit for them.
What is a connectedness thesis?
People are social beings who live in a web of connectedness, networks of relationships which strongly influence and shape the range of choice.

Including people from different backgrounds socially, economically.
What is diversity (cultural)?
Different cultural, religious or ethnic groups have different family structures.

Family structures differ according to the stage reached in the life cycle.

The difference in the ways that family roles are assigned.

Older/younger generations have different life experience that reflect historical periods.

Difference in family structure are partly the result of income differences.

Scientific and individualism that helps with development.

A family that doesnt conform to the traditional family norm.
What is a neo-conventional family?
A dual earner family in which both spouses go to work.
What is postmodernism?
An approach that attempts to define how society has progressed to an era beyond modernity.
