What is a clergy?
The body of all people ordained for religiour duties
What is cultural defence?
When religion provides a focal point for the defence of national, ethnic, local or group identity in a struggle against an external force
What is cultural transition?
When a religion provides support and a sense of community for ethnic groups like migrants
What is disenchantment?
The process whereby magical and religious ways of thinking are replaced by rational mode of thought
What is erosion of absolutism?
The society where nany people hold views that are different to ours which underines our assumption that our own views are true
What is industrialisation?
A transformation from agricultural to a resource based economy
What is rationalisation?
The process by which ways thinking comes to replace religious ones
What is religiosity?
Deals with how religious a person is by looking at belonging , attending and believing
What is religious affiliation?
Those belonging to a religion and identifying with that religion
What are religious organisations?
The churchs that are involved with institutions in society
What is a religious practice/function?
The extent to which people involve themselves in church membership, attendence
What is religious beliefs/thoughts?
The extent which people believe in concepts such as God
What is secularisation?
The devline of religious influence, practice, institutions, etc.
What is structural differentiation?
Process of specialisation where institutions develop to carry out functions that were performed previously by a single institution
What is technological worldview?
Technology and science replacing religious or supernatural explanation for why things happen
