Cerebrovascular accident (CVA, or stroke)
A
- reduced blood supply to part of brain
- due to blocked arterial blood vessel or hemorrhage
- Affects opposite side of body
- Brief episode is a transient ischemic attack (TIA)

A
- Affects muscle movement and balance
- stiff posture, slow voluntary movements, resting tremor
- caused by decreased dopamine production in mid brain

- Leads to brain distortion
- In young child, head enlarged with possible neurological damage
