Flag surveyor wants to do a hull inspection the day after the audit, what do you prepare?

A
  • Find a shipyard nearby where we can be lifted
  • Inform the shipyard what is needed and provide general arrangement, docking plan and tank plug plan
  • Remove non essential gear
  • Rudders, stabilizers, propeller shafts and retractable propulsion units are in docking positions.
  • Retractable hull fittings and transducers are in docking position.
  • Cranes and davits are properly stowed to prevent their movement.
  • The anchors are secured.
  • All moveable weights are secured.
  • Tie down chains and strops are in good condition and adequate for the purpose.
  • Bollards and fairleads are clear and ready for use.
  • Adequate mooring lines are ready for use, and winches/windlasses are tested.
  • Guard rails and chains are intact and in good condition.
  • Access (gangway or stairs) has been arranged for the vessel once out of the water.
  • Have copies of fire plans ready and ensure vessels’ fire prevention and control equipment is in good order.
  • Shore supply to the fire mains has been arranged for when the vessel is out of the water.
  • Electrical shore supply has been checked for compatibility and has been arranged.
  • Required services have been arranged, Water, Cooling, Sewage
  • Vessel is stable, Upright, trimmed stern, no slack tanks
