Q

What is the two stages of drug testing

A

1) The drug is tested on animals. In the UK, data is needed from two animal species before it can be used in trails involving humans
2) The drug is testes on humans this is a clinical trial

Q

What are the three stages of a clinical trial

A

The drug is tested on healthy volunteers, to look for unexpected side effects
The drug is tested on a small sample of volunteers - usually a few hundred - to see how effective the drug is
The drug is tested on a large number of people - with the condition to see how well it works and to see if it’s safe for use

Q

What is the double blind test

A

They give the drug to some patients, while others get an exact replica of the drug, which contains no active ingredients. This is the placebo. Neither the doctor of the patients and told who received the drug until the test is over.
