What is a vaccine
A
Vaccines contain small amounts of weakened or dead versions of a pathogen. They are inserted into your body usually by an injection. The vaccination causes your lymphocyte to produce antibodies to the pathogen.

How does this improve the response to pathogens
A
If you later encounter the real pathogen your body can respond more quickly than if you had not been vaccinated. Removing disease causing microorganisms before they cause disease.
